NOMISSOFT was founded in 1985 and originally engaged in flexible manufacturing systems, involving robotics, tooling machines, transportation and related communication. Due to the private interests and hobbies of Simon Hradecky, the company's owner, NOMISSOFT started to engage more and more in flight simulation - which resulted in 3DAGS (also known as ATP Companion) to appear in 1994. After release the company started research in aerodymanics and thermodynamics to develop the most accurate flight models and jet engine models ever. The new flight models will now appear in AS2. Besides AS2 for the general flight sim user, AS2 Professional has already found entry into aviation research and pilot training.
